Pesi Shroff’s proficiently trained Fynbos (Kingda Ka (Aus) – Mahali), under the perceptive guidance of Trevor Patel, secured a commanding victory in the first classic of the season—the Benaka Developer’s Fillies Championship Stakes (Grade 1). Crossing the wire in 1:37.90 on a track officially rated as soft (penetrometer reading: 4.7 cm), Fynbos displayed
sheer brilliance, claiming victory for Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd, Mr.Vispi R. Patel, and Miss Anita J. Captain.
After an assertive start in the first furlong, Fynbos settled beautifully in midfield, conserving energy for a late surge. As the field entered the home stretch, stablemate Bishop momentarily seized control from Kavya the long time leader. However, Trevor Patel timed his charge to perfection, propelling Fynbos forward with a breathtaking burst of acceleration.
Approaching the final half-furlong, Fynbos effortlessly overtook Bishop and stormed ahead, ultimately securing a decisive 3¾-length triumph. Bishop retained the runner up berth, while Mountain Jewel finished strongly from mid rear positions, edging out Northern Waves to claim third and salvage place investments.
