EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW — BANGALORE SUMMER RACING SEASON 2025

As the mercury rose and now starting dipping as the pre monsoon showers come in the Garden City, so does the pulse of the racing fraternity. The Bangalore Turf Club is all set to stage the Summer Racing Season 2025, a sprawling 24-day extravaganza that promises not just sun and rain kissed afternoons of racing glory but also the emergence of India’s next equine sensations. With over ₹16 crores in stakes and more than 750 horses (590 local and over 160 horses from outstation)
ready to thunder down the famed Bangalore straight, this season has all the makings of a classic.
This year’s summer meet is bigger, sharper, and truly pan-Indian. With 590 local contenders and a formidable 170 visiting challengers, the turf will host talent from every leading racing centre in the country. 45 trainers, including 15 powerhouse
names from outstation, have marked their calendars and moved in with intent—underscoring Bangalore’s growing status as the heartbeat of Indian summer racing.
THE CLASHES TO WATCH
At the epicentre of the season is the Grade 1 HPSL Bangalore Derby on Sunday,13th July—the ultimate proving ground for India’s top 3-year-olds. Leading up to it are crucial prep events like the Fillies’ Championship Stakes (15th June) and the
Colts’ Championship Stakes (22nd June), which will shape the Derby narrative. The Maharaja’s Gold Cup (6th July) adds Grade 2 intrigue for the stayers and older elite. Expect an electric mix of emerging Classic hopefuls and hardened campaigners, with juveniles fresh from winter success now stepping up in trip and temperament. The battle lines are already being drawn.

TRAINERS’ ARMS RACE: HOME TURF VS VISITING FIREPOWER
The local stronghold, led by Prasanna Kumar, Sulaiman Attaollahi (the reigning champion), Padmanabhan, Darius Byramji, Arjun Mangalorkar, and others, will face high-octane resistance from western giants like Pesi Shroff, Malesh Narredu, Neil
Darashah brings with him a promising batch from Kolkata, James Mckeown andVijay Singh have formidable strings from Chennai and eager to stamp their class.

In the saddle, it’s a star-studded cast. A. Sandesh, Suraj Narredu, Trevor Patel, Akshay Kumar, Yash Narredu, Neeraj Rawal, G. Vivek, C.S. Jodha, Imran Chisty—and several more elite reins men will clash in one of the most competitive rider line-ups seen in recent memory.
